![]() ![]() ![]() how many days, what to see, whether the place is suitable for senior citizens, etc. I will try to answer atleast those questions which I had while planning this trip eg. There are many articles available online but atleast they didnt solve all my queries. I have no shame is saying, Modi hai to Mumkim hai!! This just goes to prove the level of planning and execution. The statue and surrounding gardens / activities were constructed from scratch in just 4.5 years.Yes just 4.5 years. This just goes to show how even an Indian can make something this marvelous monument. The Statue was designed and planned by a ninety year old Sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar from Dhulia district in Maharashtra. Let me start with telling you.this place is a must visit, if not for Sardar Patel, but to see architecture and the engineering master peice competing with International standards. The sound and light show is magnificent and showcases our nation’s ability in this technology as well. Going for a drive past the tent cities etc in the evening before the sound and light show is a great time filler. and the butterfly park has very few insects at all. The peripheral attractions too were well thought out, though te helicopter ride is NONEXISTENT. The express ticket too is well worthwhile. We used Varshaben, who's numbers are there with hotel receptionists. Please do hire an eRickshaw for the day - it’s worth the expense. The views from the viewing gallery are gorgeous, the information about the unification of India was detailed and well presented, the crowd control and signage were well thought out. The staff were patient, courteous and helpful. The statue of the Sardar was enormous, and really impressive in its construction and user friendly services. The grounds, and the inside areas of the statue were squeaky clean, despite the crowds. We travel all over India, and the usual excuse for filth everywhere is "oh! India is so crowded" - well that's another myth blown away. ![]()
